The country`s accreditation procedures for each signatory are monitored every 3 to 6 years to ensure that they maintain their comparability with all signatories. Our CEAB members are involved in this ongoing diligence in other countries. The Washington erabe is just a bachelor`s degree.  Engineering technology and post-cycle engineering programs are not covered by the agreement. Technology programmes are covered by the Sydney Agreement and the Dublin Agreement. Only qualifications acquired after the conclusion of the Washington agreement are recognized. The agreement is not directly responsible for the admission of professional engineers and the registration of chartered engineers, but it covers the academic requirements that are part of the licensing procedures in the signatory countries. Sydney AccordThe Sydney Accord began in 2001. It recognizes a high equivalence in the accreditation of university engineering qualifications. Higher degrees and associated diplomas accredited by the HKIE are recognized by other signatories and vice versa. Signatories to the Sydney Agreement include Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong-China, Ireland, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States. The International Professional Engineers Agreement (IPEA) The IPEA (formerly engineers Mobility Forum, EMF, which began in 2001) creates an international standard of expertise in professional engineering and provides a framework for the recognition of experienced professional engineers by representative organisations in the signatory organizations.
